This is similar to a hammer drill in that when it’s rotating it always pounds the drill bit in and out. However, rotary hammers use a piston mechanism instead of a special clutch.
For a fast bit turn, there is a one-touch sliding chuck and a torque limiter prevents the user from “snagging” into rotating mode plus a simple phase change lever at the topo. There is a one-touch sliding chuck for fast bit shift and protects a torque limiter. This has two working modes, Rotary Hammer and Just the Hammer. It also reduces friction inside the drill. In other hammer drills (or percussion drills) the whole chuck will move back and forth.
